Archwood United Church of Christ
Flutists Jacquie Oliveri and Brandyn Metzko will perform solo flute works and the Lake Erie Wind Quintet will make its debut on Sunday evening, August 18th at 7:00 at Archwood United Church of Christ. There’ll be music of C. P. E. Bach, Mouquet, Piazzola and others. 440-332-7763

Burning River Baroque
Burning River Baroque will launch its eighth season with a program called A Mad, Burning Desire - featuring mad scenes by Henry Purcell, John Eccles, Godfrey Finger and John Blow. There’ll be a performance on Friday evening, August 23rd, at Art House on Denison Avenue in Cleveland, as well as two house concert performances in Cleveland Heights and Fairlawn on the 22nd and 24th.
CInema at the Square

The Cleveland Orchestra will be at the Blossom Music Center on Saturday evening, August 24th as Andy Einhorn and the Orchestra present The Sound of Music – the full musical, in collaboration with the Baldwin Wallace Music Theater program directed by Victoria Bussert. The Orchestra will also perform twice at Severance Hall on Friday evening, August 23rd, and Sunday afternoon, August 25th. They’ll be joined by the Blossom Festival Chorus and conductor Sarah Hicks to provide the music for two screenings of the 1989 film version of Batman with Danny Elfman’s score. 216-231-1111
First Lutheran Church of Lorain
First Lutheran Church of Lorain, in co-operation with the Cleveland Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, will host a dedicatory recital for the new organ built by Paul Fritts and Company. The church was destroyed by an arson fire two years ago. Organist Katelyn Emerson will perform music of Bach, Franck, Muffat, Brahms and others on the new instrument on Sunday afternoon, August 25th, at 3:00.
Lorain County Metroparks
The Lorain County Metro Parks French Creek Theater presents three performances of Shakespeare’s As You Like It on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, August 16th, 17th and 18th, at the Bacon Wood Amphitheater in the Vermilion River Reservation.
The new music ensemble No Exit begins a two-year collaboration with cimbalom player Chester Englander in September as part of a series of three performances that will include a piece or cimbalom and piano by Kati Agocs. There’ll also be pieces by Philip Blackburn, Adonai Henderson, Sean Parks and Nicholas Underhill. The concert will be performed on Friday, September 6th at Spaces Gallery, Saturday, September 7th at Heights Arts, and Friday, September 13th, at Cleveland State University.
